Wheel Assembly

Central to the SPEEDMULLOR®’s mixing power, delivering consistent mulling action when properly maintained.

  • Tighten Fasteners – Periodically check that the eccentric shaft fasteners, castle nut, and lockwasher are secure to prevent misalignment.
  • Watch for Buildup – Material buildup on the wheels may indicate improper loading or a misaligned plow. Wheels should run clean when operating correctly.
  • Inspect Tire Wear – Even wear is a sign of a healthy system. Uneven wear or grooves may signal plow issues or overloading—inspect immediately to avoid damage.

Polyurethane Liner

Engineered for durability and easy maintenance—protecting your muller while making inspections and replacements more efficient.

  • Check Bolt Integrity – Larger diameter and double washers ensure a strong hold. Inspect for signs of loosening or pulling through.
  • Simplify Maintenance – True bolt locations allow for fast, accurate assembly and adjustment in both directions.
  • Monitor for Wear – The bright yellow color improves visibility and serves as a wear indicator—fading signals it’s time for replacement.
  • Inspect Fit – The reinforced design keeps liners securely in place, preventing premature separation from the muller bowl and door.

Ceramic Plow

Built for long-lasting durability with highly abrasion-resistant surfaces. Proper adjustment and maintenance are essential to maximize service life and performance.

  • Inspect Regularly – Correctly adjusted plows reduce wear on both the plows and liners, improving overall system efficiency.
  • Minimize Clearance – Keep the gap between the plow and adjacent surfaces as small as possible without contact to prevent excessive wear.
  • Watch for Wear – Sand escaping through wide gaps causes faster erosion and increased plow damage.
  • Optimize Efficiency – Proper settings reduce discharge time, lower motor load, and improve energy efficiency.

Bottom Bowl

Designed for durability and ease of maintenance, Simpson’s bottom bowls come in two material options to suit your operational needs and wear expectations.

  • Choose Your Material – Available in Standard Gray Iron or high-durability Ni-Hard for extended wear resistance.
  • Extended Life – Ni-Hard offers 4–5 times longer life expectancy compared to gray iron.
  • Fewer Change Outs – Longer-lasting liners mean reduced maintenance downtime.
  • Easier Installation – Ni-Hard features a 6-piece design, making replacement simpler than the 2-piece gray iron bowl.
  • Interchangeable – Flexibility to swap between gray iron and Ni-Hard based on application demands.

Gear Box

Keep your Simpson gearbox running smoothly by watching for early warning signs and ensuring regular maintenance:

  • Monitor for Oil Leaks – Check around the input shaft for signs of oil loss, which may indicate worn seals or gasket failure.
  • Watch for Excessive Noise – Unusual sounds during operation could signal gear misalignment or bearing wear.
  • Check Operating Temperature – Overheating can reduce oil life and signal potential internal issues.
  • Inspect for Vibration – Persistent vibration may point to improper bearing preload or component imbalance.
