The Test Pieces Blower is used to make standard tensile, transverse (except cold box) and hot distortion test pieces.
Considering that blowing is the most widely used compacting method for chemically bonded sands, the Test Pieces Blower was designed so the control of sands and binders is performed under conditions similar to those in a plant. The operation of the instrument is done via a single lever that controls the movement of the tooling and the sand blow. When using the appropriate core box tooling and accessories, test specimens can be prepared for:
• Tensile strength – shell sand
• Cold Tensile strength, hot and warm box
• Transverse strength/hot distortion – shell sand
• Disc transverse strength hot and warm box (special tooling is required for sample preparation – requires Disc Transverse Tooling, Model 42109C).
To help maintain repeatability, specimen dimensions are kept within narrow margins and blowing and curing conditions are constant on the Simpson Test Pieces Blower.
Components Included: Core box tooling (Enables preparation of 1” (25 mm) core tensile dog bone, .25” (6 mm) transverse/hot distortion and .25” (6 mm) shell tensile dog bone specimens), Sand cartridge for shell sand, Cartridge blowing lid, Plastic tubing (6.1 mm O.D. x 4.0 mm I.D.) and Heating plates
