To keep up with modern foundry demands we have made many significant innovations to our gearboxes. When comparing the HD Max gearbox to an old gearbox the HD Max its less expensive, more reliable and designed for a longer service life in a foundry environment.

Longer Maintenance Intervals

The HD Max gearbox is designed with a contactless sealing system for the input shaft so that the input shaft is not affected by wear. Loss of oil from the input shaft seals is a thing of the past. Additionally the HD Max gearbox is designed for optimal heat dissipation reducing the oil bath temperature prolonging oil life. These improvements result in extended time between oil changes.

Improved Reliability

The gearing topology of the HD Max gearbox has been optimized to reduce gearbox noise and increase the static overhung load rating of the input shaft. The bevel gear housing has been designed for improved oil flow to the high speed bearings. These improvements allow for optimized bearing preloads to reduce the formation of heat spots significantly increasing the bearing service life and thermal limit rating. This results in improved overall reliability and reduced risk of unexpected machine downtime.

Conversion Kit

Select models of the Beardsley & Piper or Simpson Speedmullors can be upgraded to the HD Max gearbox. Upgrading requires a one-time conversion. Engineering documents for the conversion are shipped with the conversion kit and includes hard copies of the gearbox assembly drawing, and the associated bill of material, the greasing schematic drawing, the oil filler and sight gauge drawing, as well as the gearbox technical specifications and the gearbox operation and maintenance instructions. Gearbox conversion-installation instructions are also provided.
