Sales Engineer

Summary/Objective:

This position is responsible for selling and supporting core products and establishing and strengthening customer relationships while achieving sales and profit growth goals in the East coast territory (defined as Maine to Mississippi.)  Responsibilities include forecasting and meeting targeted profit margin and revenue budgets; customer relationship management, closing prospected sales, growing current accounts and collecting industry intelligence.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies relevant customer needs, prioritizes initiatives, and establishes a clear action plan for success in order to sell core product lines of equipment, service, and spare parts.
  • Completes/compiles reports for sales, RFQ’s, proposals, expenses, RFQ Technical Data Sheets, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses.
  • Investigates, tracks, and resolves customer concerns; identifies trends and implements solutions.
  • Establishes strong customer relationships with decision makers across functions and regions.
  • Proactively manages customers’ satisfaction by anticipating potential issues.
  • Participates in sales meetings, trade shows, green sand classes, and AFS chapter meetings, etc. as necessary and appropriate.
  • Ensures that CRM database is current with industry intelligence.

Required Education:

  • BS in a field related to technical management, business, or sales

Required Experience:

  • Minimum ten years’ sales experience in a foundry-related industry.
  • Prior experience with relationship selling
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and fulfill customer needs and deliver sales results.

 Required Skills:          

  • Proven ability to prospect, develop, negotiate and close sales while meeting or exceeding margin and revenue targets.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing capital equipment, specifically engineering drawings and bill of material (BOM).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal & written), organization, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Effective ability of PC applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% within designated territory (East coast.)
